Hey,

I have two databases(dummy and actual) with different SID , I want to copy a datafile from One database to paste with another database,For this what i have to do?(means in which files i have to edit etc). What about renaming the datafile?

You have to either copy tablespace (not datafile) using transportable tablespace feature or export/import the objects that are in the datafile/tablespace.
