I have 2 Oracle servers, one is installed with Oracle 9.0.2, the other is installed with Oracle XE 10. Both are running on Linux
The oracle instance of the Oracle XE is OracleXE. I found there are so many running OracleXE process (200 or more) of the ORacle XE by executing "ps ux" . But, I only found 10 or more running <Oralce SID> process of the Oracle 9.0.2.
The no. of processes of both Oracle are defined to 400 in the spfile.
So, how can I decrease the no. of Oralce XE process showing in the OS?
Thanks.

Depends on what those processes are.
Every user / program that connects to the database starts a process, for example. So you could ask the user not to use the database.
How many users are connected to both database?
( Do a select on v$session )
