Dear all,

I have to backup (which means move some files to some directory & after tar and gzip) oracle audit_trail (xml, extended) files while instance is running. Is is possible?

Thanks in advance

Yes it is possible. You don't need to shut the DB down just to backup (and/or delete) external files.

Best of luck.

Actually you have to take care of to not do it on audit files belonging to current sessions.
