Hi Guys,
I have a tape drive directly attached to a server with a SCSI interface. I want this server to have the OSB client, Admin and the media server. I obtained the tape drive details (required later during the OSB install) using the OSB driver. The OSB express install runs through fine. However, I get the following error when configuring the device using the obtool:

Error: host sun440n001 is not a media server.

I selected the following options when installing OSB Express:

Oracle Secure Backup's Web server has been loaded, but is not yet configured.

You can install this host one of three ways:
    (a) administrative server
(the host will also be able to act as a media server or client)
    (b) media server
(the host will also be able to act as a client)
    (c) client

If you are not sure which way to install, please refer to the Oracle
Secure Backup Installation Guide. (a,b or c) [a]?

:
Is sun440n001 connected to any tape libraries that you'd like to use with
Oracle Secure Backup [no]?

Is sun440n001 connected to any tape drives that you'd like to use with
Oracle Secure Backup [no]? yes

How many Oracle Secure Backup tape drives are attached to sun440n001 [1]?

Please describe each tape drive by answering the following questions.

Oracle Secure Backup logical unit number [0]:
    SCSI bus name-instance [pci1000,302]:
    SCSI target ID [4]: 3
    SCSI lun 0-7 [0]:

Is the information you entered correct [yes]?

As you can see above, I made this server the administrative server(which should include the client and media server). As the for the second option, I select ‘no’ for tape library and ‘yes’ for drive: Is this correct? Or do I create a tape drive within a library even though I only have a directly attached tape drive?

What command do I use to configure the device in obtool? I used the following but I don’t think it’s correct:

mkdev -t tape -o -a sun440n001:/dev/obt0 suntd

What needs to be set for the '–a' flag? Is '/dev/obt0' correct?

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Zaff
