What is the advantage of using flashback recovery area for
RMAN over not setting it up.Sorry for asking such basic question.

FRA offers one central location for all backup related files and allows Oracle to automatically manage the files and space in this area. In addition, a FRA is required if you want to enable Flashback Database and/or guaranteed restore points.
