hi ...
im using an em job to scheduale a full db backup (using rman of course) , now i need to generate a log file for this operation & cant seem to find that option anywhere in the em ,

from the cmd though one can always use :

rman TARGET SYS/pwd@target_str LOG $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/log/my_log.log APPEND , but can i have a log file generated when using the em instead?

There should be a log created by default. In OEM, you can click on the Maintenance Tab and then click on the Jobs link. Backup jobs will be listed and you can click on the job name and then click on Succeeded and then under the Logs section click on the link labeled Backup. This will show the output log.

thank you ebrian
i already know that , but usually the log file is not complete, it skips some sections of the operation , so i was wondering if i can get to save a copy of that file to refer to later

To get the additional logging, you can edit the RMAN script that OEM creates by adding the SPOOL command to the script.
