Hi!

I installed oracle 10g software in windows server 2003 with an existing oracle 9i database but different oracle homes. The current oracle_home for 9i is 'c:\oracle\ora920' while for 10g its 'c:\oracle\product\10.2.0'. Unfortunately,
the oracle 9i database was affected wherein I can't connect to 9i database. Due to tns can't resolve error something. let's say, when I tried to connect in 9i database using sql plus. It uses the version of 10g sqlplus. I was to supposed to create 10g database without affecting 9i database.

Are there any ways how to do this without affecting the performance of the other database?

before connect to oracle 9i set ORACLE_HOME/ORACLE_SID/PATH variable

then you can able to use oracle 9i sqlplus.

Still if you face errors, check whether the proper listener has been started
