Hi folks,

Does anybody use these features provided by Oracle? If so, have you found any shortcomings with them? ie, Are there features that you would have liked to see, or analyses, that Oracle has not provided?

rgds, Efachim

Definitely use them, however the fact that they are an additional cost option, most folks can't use those tools without violating their license agreement.

Does the data dictionary table dba_hist_active_session_history store all the cumulative wait data from the first time the database is created?

Hi Ebrian,

Do you know whether you need an additional license for AWR and ADDM for Oracle 11g? I know that is the case for Oracle 10g...

Yes, there is still an additional license required for these components with 11g.

Does the data dictionary table dba_hist_active_session_history store all the cumulative wait data from the first time the database is created?

The data is maintained in DBA_HIST_ACTIVE_SESS_HISTORY for 7 days by default. This can be modified if need be.
