Hi all,

I would like to understand.
The scenario is the following: I want to clone database A to database B.
Can you tell me if the following information are true:
1. If database A password is copied to database B, I will not need to recreate database B control file in order to start database B. If the passwords are changed after startup, the password file will not be modified.
2. If I don't have database A password file, I will need to recreate the control file and change password for database B after.

In fact, I am looking for a solution to start the database without having to recreate a new control file.

Thanks

Password and control file are completly independent and have no relation bewteen them.
So anyway you have not to recreate the control file.

Michel
