Hi experts,

I have installed oracle on my machine. after that i tried to install Business Objects on same machine, i got exception while processing the installation like The port No.is already in Use.

I want to change the port No. of Oracle , where can i change,Please suggest me to change it.....

once i had also faced the similar issue with oracle10g .
For this you will have to uninstall oracle and install it again and their you will hve to give a different port number.


otherwise once you can try by changing the port numebr in TNS.ora also if it work. but i am not sure about it

Re-installing is not possible in our situation, since many applications are accessing the database on that machine.

ok so you can try this also. but i am not sure if it will work or not.

go to oracle
inside it ora92->network->admin->TNS.ora

change the port number and save it

see if it work

Don't guess.
Changing the port in tnsnames.ora (as the file is called) will only result in not being able to connect to the database.
Since the original poster explained that the database is accessed by other apps, changing the portnumber for the database is not an option.
You should choose another portnumber for Business Objects.

What will happen when we change the Port Number for Oracle, we will distribute the tns name with new port Number, I think it will fine.

Another one is when we install Oracle, does tomcat also installed.
