Can I store a negative numerical value (with - sign) in a table field of type numeric, if so how?

Sorry Tod, for asking this silly question,
because I got some problem in loading data
from text file to oracle database using
sql loader. I thought this could be the problem.
The proble is that the number contains "," in it.
Finally I realised that the proble is not with
"-" sign. Yes it is storing the negative values.

I waisted your valuable time.

Thank
Laxsun.
