Old Tomcat inactive session in oracle 10g [message #343592]

Hi,
I am facing a problem of increasing inactive oracle sessions with tomcat, Old Oracle sessions with tomcat are visible with new one.

if somebaody did not restarted tomcat gracefully, then does Oracle keep the session connected or is there any way that whenever any one restarted tomcat abnormally, Oracle session can be killed.

I had restart the database to kill session.

This is an Operating system/Tomcat problem; not an Oracle problem.
Oracle is oblivious to the fact that Tomcat was restarted as it should be.

Do not you think that Oracle database must kill the process automatically when OS process is being killed in linux.

TOMCAT is NOT running on database server box. RIGHT?
How is Oracle to know or why should Oracle care about processes on some remote system?
