Hi,
I see my alert_log file filled with
Restarting dead background process QMNC
...errors.
Could someone please tell what's going on or how to diagnose this issue?
This is urgent..
Thanks,

Michel, when people are in trouble and they just want to get straight to the answer, they naturally end up not reading the guide first, but posting the question. Sorry for that.
But I hope with your responses we would know how to take care of the guidelines.
While looking at the "bdump/dev1_qmnc_2650.trc" file, here's what I saw:
Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
With the Real Application Clusters option
ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db

Instance name: dev1
Redo thread mounted by this instance: 1
Oracle process number: 37
Unix process pid: 2650, image: oracle@dev1000 (QMNC)

Thanks for your quick turnaround.

And it keeps going on, no other errors. Not a sign of what happened before it started dying.
Thanks

That's exactly what I said, addition of too many errors in the alert file capped off the oldest info, which could lead to some answers. It was not my intention to provide you limited information from the alert file.
However, I was able to restart the whole node and the DB seems to be working fine yesterday.
What else could be done in order to investigate it?

Oops, my bad.
However, here is the restof the info you asked for.
SQL> Show parameter compatible
NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
compatible string 10.2.0.3.0
SQL> show parameter aq_tm
NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
aq_tm_processes integer 0
Just to let you now that the problem is long solved, I am just trying to dig down deep to machine the problem out.
Thanks for your help guys!
