Hello All,

We have implemented a 2 node RAC on Red Hat Liux AS4. My doubt is how do we check the working of Server Side Load Balancing. I did specify the parameters
LOCAL_LISTENER and REMOTE_LISTENER in the parameter file, but I want to know how it works .

I've read books but no where I could find that working of Server Side Load Balancing.

Can somebody guide me please.

Regards,
Raj

I recommend you to also read Oracle documentation:
http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/search?word=server+side+load+balancing&partno=
As a starting point:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b25159/configbp.htm#sthref262

Hi Michel,

I did read the book what you have suggested me on Load Balancing, but one point still puts me in a fix.

Lets say I had configured the parameters for Server Side Load Balancing in the pfile, but how do we manually specify that some 100 no.of sessions/users must initially get connected to Node 1 and from 101'st session/user must get connected to Node 2.

How do we manage that . Can you please me guide atleast now.

Regards,
Raj

This is not load balancing, this is custom balancing.
I don't know how or even if it is possible.

Then can you please clarify me about Server side load balancing. I'm pretty confused on that . How does server side balancing work and under what circumstances we go for server side balancing.

Please help me out.

Raj
