PERL5LIB env variable error while installing oracle 10g. [message #339845]

Hello all.

OS: Windows XP Professional , version: 2002, Service pack 2.
Oracle : 10.2.0.1.0

While trying to install oracle, i am getting error like:

Quote:

The value of the enviornment variable PERL5LIB is more than 1023 characters. This value cannot be set.

On pressing Retry buttun, same error is returned.
After pressing Ignore button, installation then compaletes successfully (as the message shown).
But then after while creating database, i am getting contineous errors, like "Insufficient Privilates", and database cannot be created.

The value of PERL5LIB variable is:

Adding some more information related to error:

This error is comming at second stag of installation.
i.e at

Install

>>>>set up 'enterprise manager agent core 10.2.0.1.0'

configuration

It appears that Oracle V10.2.0.1 has been installed at least 4 times on this system.

Is the above a correct statement?

Correct dear.

But i have deinstalled oracle products and cleared registry entries and deleted oracle related folders too.

Please suggest me the way to go forward, if you have any idea..

It appears Windoze, still remembers the following:
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_4
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_3
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1

Reformat both C:\ & D:\ & start over from scratch.
Above is guarenteed to eliminate the initial error in this thread

Instade of reformat of c:\ and d:\, can't we fix this error by setting/resetting any os level paramters/variables?
Windows still remebers the previous installations, means somewhere within windoos internal, the entries about previous installations are stored. By removing that we can proceed.

Or else, can't we remove entries of previous installations from that PERL5LIB env variable itself?

(I am looking for other options first, because, reformatting will be big issue for me because, this happened in my company's pc and reformatting will take some time, and will need other settings on pc too..)

Hello Friends..

The problem has been solved.

I performed clean deinstall of Oracle s/w, remove the PERL5LIB enviornment and again install the oracle 10g s/w and created the database.. and everything went smoothly.. without problem.. Smile

Today , got one more thing to learn..

No dear, each time i was performing clean deinstallation of oracle s/w. But what i was missing was checking the PERL5LIB variable's value, as i was not aware about it.
I faced some problem, still what happened, was for good only, as i came to know about new thing. Smile

hi, i am also getting PERL5LIB error while installing oracle 10g.

in my system i had installed oracle 10g few times before. i wanted to deinstall but couldnot deinstall, rather i installed with different database name each time. but i got the PERL5LIB error.

can you please tell me where to find that file and what to do with that file??

and what is PERL5LIB all about??
