Hi,
I am planning to upgrade a 9i database to 10g.
I have the 10g software installed and CPU is also applied.
After the upgrade do i need to run the catcpu.sql or is it automatically run when catupgrd.sql is run?

Hi anacedent,
10.2.0.3 on SunOS 5.9...
By catcpu.sql i mean to say the script that we run to appply the critical patch.
Do we need to run this script after upgrading the database from 9i to 10g as the CPU is only applied to 10g software?

Forgive me for NOT being a mind reader.

To take a V9 database to V10.2.0.3, you need to follow the steps in the V10.2.0.1 Installation Guide
and then follow the installation instructions which come with V10.2.0.3 patchset.
I suggest you do not try going in a single step as that it not supported.
In any case, I hope you have good backups & a documented & tested restoration procedure.

thanks all..
i got the solution from Metalink..here's what it says
Since the CPU patch software was already installed before upgrading the database, do you still need to run the CPU post-install steps, like catcpu.sql?
Solution
Yes, you must still run the CPU post-install steps like catcpu.sql, even though the CPU software was already installed before you upgraded the database. The CPU post-install steps, like catcpu.sql, ensure the database objects are updated for the CPU.
For all Oracle Database releases, you must run the post-installation steps (that is, the catcpu.sql script) for any new database you create or database upgraded to this release since the CPUApr2008 patch was applied.
