Hi i am newbie to oracle. In lab scenarios we use small database and small tablespace,shared pool, buffer pool. However in real time scenario what will be the approximate size of database, tables and other memory structures.......

Then how long will it take to take a full backup of 2gb database and what will be the size of tables. Thanks a lot for your immediate reply

Depends on the disk speed, the network speed, the backup medium, the actual mode of the backup (cold backup, RMAN backup, etc .....)
One one of our machines a OS level flashcopy cold backup of a 300 GB database takes about a minute, the same backup we did of basically the same database on a development system with a normal copy over the network did take 5 hours.

Thanks a lot. Is user managed backups better or rman. Does Rman has any disadvantages compared to user managed backups....
