Hi Forum

Someone created datafiles in a tablespace in production database without .dbf extensions.

Can anyone please guide how to restore these datafiles back with .dbf extension.

And is there any concern of changing them back to .dbf exntension.

Thanks in advance,
Hary.

First, Oracle does not care about extension or any part of your naming.

If you want to change the name, put the file offline, use "mv" or "rename" OS command, then "alter database datafile" and put bakc the file online.
