Hi All,

I have 2 question related to patch and semaphore management in oracle 10g

1.How to find the semaphore and shm id in oracle 10g?

2.What is the difference between patch and patchset in oracle?

Thanks in advance

Jayakumar

1. ipcs
2. patchset = set of patches.
patchsets fix many problems
patches fix one problem
patchsets are tested against regression, one-off patches are not.

Thanks Michel.

Say if i have 3 databases running in single unix box,in that case how to match the semaphore id for an instance.(specifically in 10g).I am aware that in 9i and 8i we can use oradebug to find out.

There is no change in 10g with oradebug, as far as I know but I didn't check it.

You can also use $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sysresv
