Good Afternoon Everybody,
We are Planning to Impliment RMAN as our Backup & Recovery strategy.
I have small concern, what would be better taking RMAN backup on DISK and then writing that onto the tapes or directly configuring teh RMAN to take the backup onto the Tape Library.
I am going to configure the RMAN with Tape Library first time.
So I would highly appreciate if somebody has really good notes of configuring RMAN with MML.
Thanks in Advance.
Liam

Depends on your need.
MML is not free. Look into Oracle Secure Backup.
Disk is cheap. Disk is handy if will be planning to duplicate cross multiple servers.
Anyhow you will need to copy the backupsets to tape for archival.

It is all in the docs/metalink.
Optimization depends on the tool you use.
