Dear All

I want to run a Db in Oracle 10 g and I also want another DB in oracle 9i to be updated with the updating of Oracle 10g Db.

I want to make it as the concept of Primary domain controller and Backup domain controller.

is it possible? if Yes then How?

I have tried to create new DB in Oracle9i while pasting the data and control and password files of Oracle10g Db but an error occurred. Ora-00227 and Ora-00202

can any one Help me in this regard????

regards.

Why is use of obsolete version V9 a requirement & to what benefit over using V10?

It is not possible and quite non-sense.
It you want a backup, use the same version.
And Data Guard is made for this.

Dear Sir

You are right. it is really non-sense.

Possibly I could not convey my point. the actual scenerio is :

Currently we are running Oracle9i.
Now we want to shift on Oracle10g.
.dmp of 9i can be imported in 10g but .dmp of 10g can not be imported in 9i.

If 10g becomes smooth, we will leave 9i. But in case of any error..... we will get back to 9i. so meanwhile i want it to be updated in order to avoid data loss.

I think i have conveyed my point.

still need help.

take care.

regards.

Not if you perform export of your 10g database using the 10g Export utility.
Therefore, export 10g using 9i's Export and import it into 9i using 9i's Import utility.

Dear Sir,

I am using a lot of users for one Db. while exporting dmp, users are not fetched. grants are not fetched.

how to export entire db, so that i should not create users(synonyms) again.?

Regards.

If you use "full=y grants=y" they are.
