I want to create a 10.2.0.3 database on a new server.
I have installed the 10.2.0.1 only the software without
the database. I have downloaded and intend to apply
patch 5337014 to the 10.2.0.1 software so I can create
a 10.2.0.3 database. After starting the runInstaller
and click next to reach the Specify Home Details, I
keep getting OUI-10136 error message.
Readme instructions says to select the name of the oracle
home that you want to update, or select the Path that you
want to update from the list" - when I select from the drop
down and give the path of the oracle home of the 10.2.0.1, I
get error OUI-10136 - An Oracle Home with name ora10g-home1
already exists at location /u01/app/oracle/product/ora10g_home1 . How can I successfully apply the patch without the error?
Am I to create a new Oracle Home?
I need to get this completed within the next few hours. Any input would be valuable.
Thanks,
Lucky

While running root.sh applying the patch, I encountered:
the following environment variables are set as:
ORACLE_OWNER=oracle
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0
Enter the full pathname of the local bin directory:[/usr/local/bin]:
Is it referring to the ORACLE_HOME/bin?
If prompted that the oraevn... already exist, should I override?
Thanks,
Lucky
