Hi,
I have a partitioned table(A) and I want to divide the partitions in two tables (A,A1). First I'm going to rename the table A to A1 (the majority of the partitions will be in A1), after that I'm going to create an identical partitioned table with name A and finally I'm going to use the exchange command but my question is that if it's possible exchange a partition among the partitioned tables directly or if I have to use an intermediate table?
Thanks

The table A has 64000 partitions and we are near the top 655xx of version 10.1. We have only three days to reach the top and that the application fail. (We have planned in the near future upgrade the database to 10.2 but meanwhile we need an emergency solution)
Were there any other procedure best for the scenario proposed?
Thanks

I am more curious to know why/what is your requirement to create 64000+ partitions in a single table. Till date I never heard or had an opportunity to see such a massive table / partitions.

How many gazillion rows does this table have? I am betting that partitions here are not helping at all.
