Hi,
I Have Installed Oracle 9i Database (Enterprise Edition)
On Sun Solaris machine
(in Oracle User)
Installation was successful
But database is not getting started from "dbstart"
Its Giving Following Error:
ORA_12162
TNS: Service Name is incorrectly specified
Can't find init file for Database "dbdl"

please guide me as to what all changes I have to make as to start the database

Have you set all the environment variables?
ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_SID
PATH
LD_LIBRARY_PATH
DISPLAY
...

What installation manual did you follow while installing oracle on solaris?

The same instruction manual should tell you.

use export command

for example:
$export ORACLE_HOME=<OS_Path>
