Dear All,
We are in the process of taking a database out as it life cycle ended. What are the steps to take a database out.
If any one has done it already or suggest some steps or provide some info, it would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Mr. Mahesh,
Thanks for your quick response, and I believe, we like to keep a copy of the database for certain number of years. However I like to know, what the steps are to take it out. use the DBCA or go to mount points to empty the datafiles. what dependency to be followed when taking out it.
Thanks.

That is where I was coming after and it is the one you really need to worry about. It is easy to takeout a 9.2.0.8 database.
To start with, I would try to answer these questions.
What if you need to bring back the database after 5 years?
Where can you find 9.2.0.8 media?
Will the OS support it (the future version of OS)?
...many more...
Since you are more interested in 'taking out',
using DBCA to remove the database is a simple, clean method and use OUI to remove the Oracle installation.
