Hi to all,
I have installed oracle 10g r2 os is windows. The problem in my database is When a user connects to the database and logoff. the session remains in the v$session view. The status shows as inactive. It remains for every user connection and it only releases after i restart the database. AS it is a production db i cannot shutdown and startup.
Can anyone help me..
Thanks in Advance,
Seenu

Hi michel,
I am using Toad 8.0 and sql plus. I have tried to connect from different applications and after i logoff from that application, the session status remains INACTIVE in the v$session.
Thanks a Lot,
Seenu...

AS you said i have checked if users logout from the session normally then that session is not maintained in V$session.
We are using VPN client to connect to the server.
The problem occurs when VPN is disconnected abnormally then that session is maintained as inactive in v$session.
I have tried it by disconnecting the VPN client.
Thanks in Advance,

Hi Michel,
As you said i have used SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME=10 in sqlnet.ora file.
After that i have restarted the database and when i tested by disconnecting VPN. The session remains inactive.
Please consider my problem.
Thanks in Advance,
Seenu

>The problem occurs when VPN is disconnected abnormally
Then the problem & solution are external to Oracle & must be solved by your networking folks.
