Hello,
I want to develop applications using Pro*C so I downloaded 10g Client from this URL:
Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Linux x86
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201linuxsoft.html

When I try installing it on my Ubuntu box, I get this error:

./runInstaller
Starting Oracle Universal Installer...

Checking installer requirements...

Checking operating system version: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2
Failed <<<<

Exiting Oracle Universal Installer, log for this session can be found at /tmp/OraInstall2008-05-13_11-50-10PM/installActions2008-05-13_11-50-10PM.log

Yes,I know but, I can't install it because when i try to install, it says:

./runInstaller
Starting Oracle Universal Installer...

Checking installer requirements...

Checking operating system version: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2
Failed <<<<

it says the system must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2 to install the package successfully.

I followed the suggestions in this page:
http://thisbrokenworld.wordpress.com/2008/04/10/oracle-10g-client-tools-on-ubuntu-710/

While installing the selected packages, I get the error in the attachment.
Did anybody get this error?

Well, if an error messages tells me to look in some specific log file for details of the error, I usually do that first before doing anything else.
