MetaLink has a Note which contains a checklist for the ORA-01031 error for SYSDBA user.

I give up. What will you do?

Will you read & follow the RMAN manual which enumerates how to properly configure & use RMAN?

The RMAN documentation can be found at http://tahiti.oracle.com

I really don't understand your answer, I understand you don't know how to read the file but maybe WE can but if you don't post it we can't help.

Post the last part since the startup command until the error ORA-01102: cannot mount database in EXCLUSIVE mode.

Of course, if you don't want to be helped you can stay in this behaviour, offending the one that try to help you.

Michel

Sorry, there are too much things you don't know and I don't want to spend hours to continue to guide you step by step.
You have to first read administrator and backup and recovery guides (and I should add database concepts).
