Working on Oracle Database with frontend as Peoplesoft Appdesigner .

Created/Build  a record which contains two columns  in appdesigner . 

Table name : abc

column1    char(1)

column2    Number(1).

After building the table , when I described in Oracle Db .

Column1 appears as varchar2(3)

Column2  appears as varchar2(38).

Can anybody tell me what is the reason behind  column's length

between Oracle and Peoplesoft .

Where this mapping has been done .

is your database unicode or non unicode?

Have you enabled multiple languages in your application?
