My requirement is to create a oracle database server cluster. This is a test environment created using VMware Server Software.

I have installed oracle 10g enterprise edition on a cluster. The cluster contains two server nodes with OS windows 2003 r2 ent. SP2 and updated with all security patches and service packs. Oracle has been installed separately on both nodes.

Steps Taken:-

1) Installed Windows Server on both servers
2) Installed MSCS and configured a cluster called oracle.
3) Installed Oracle database software on each node's local disks, using the same oracle home directory.
4) created an oracle database on one node using the shared disk for storage.
5) installed oracle fail safe on each node in the cluster.
6) configured the cluster using the fail safe manager.

after performing all this operations, the cluster was working fine.. failover test passed and everything was working fine.

Now when testing failover of oracle server, we disconnected the one of the oracle server node from the network...

When we open the Database Enterprise Manager: Database Instance:orcl
It says :

Agent Connection to instance
Status: Failed
Details: ORA-12505: TNS : Listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descripter (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach)

I am also attaching the screenshot of the same with this.

Please help ..
