hi all,

i have 2 control files in which 1 is corrupted and need to recover to up the database.


below are the control file directories:

/dev/rd/dbrep/rdsk/d104


/dev/rd/dbrep/rdsk/d105



can anybody tell me the steps to recover my corrupted control file in order to up the database?

Use the 1 which is not corrupt.

1. Shutdown the instance
2. cp /xx/good_copy_01.ctl /xx/new_copy_02.ctl
3. make both entries in pfile or spfile
control_files=/xx/good_copy_01.ctl,/xx/new_copy_02.ctl
4. start the database using pfile or spfile

if you are using raw devices then use dd command to copy.
