I'm trying to configure dataguard 10g R2.
Primary database is running on Enterprise Linux AS Release 4 Version 2.6.9

Dataguard location => Enterprise Linux AS Release 4 Version 2.6.9nonSMP.

Are they considered different verion of Linux?

hi,

as far as i know AS / ES doesn't matter. we have a primary on AS and standby on ES with different source modifier values for kernel.

and SMP / nonSMP won't matter as long as they are of same platform. ie. 64-bit / 64-bit etc.

The platforms can be different bit formats (ie. 64-bit / 32-bit) as long as the Oracle images are the same on both modes (ie. 32-bit image).
