Problems have been sporadic for the last week or so. Sometimes I can access it and sometimes I can't. Right now I can get to the main page, but clicking on any documentation link produces a blank screen with title error page 404 and http://www.oracle.com/errors/503.html.
This has been reported on the OTN Feedback forum. Apparently the doc server was rebooted on April 16th, but there were still problems, then it seemed to work correctly on April 18th, then there are problems again today on the 21st. Here is a link to the thread.
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=642369&start=0&tstart=0
Here is a copy of the posts from that thread just in case it is down when you try the link.

Is anyone else having problems getting to the oracle documentation? I can't access the 10g library from my normal link http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/homepage , nor can I access 10g or 11g from tahiti.oracle.com or do any searches.
All I get is: We're sorry, the page you requested was not found.
We have recorded this error (404) to help us fix the problem.

Seems that both tahiti and docs have been mis-behaving over the weekend. I had similar problems on Saturday.

Hmm, seems ok again.
I hope that whatever the problem is that's causing intermittent access is sorted soon!

Which is all very well for us, but not when we're pointing people in the direction of the documentation!

but allows us to find the doc and tell 'em "when it's available look at ..." <g>
Besides, I use the doc twice as much for myself as I do for others. I just prefer an internet access on the assumption that Oracle occasionally sneaks in an update.

I do the same.
Unfortunately, the search against a local documentation copy call the oracle website...
That's really "just in case", because without that feature, it really difficult to find what you want.
Case reported here

yeahh and btw a bit more practical suggestion :) - download and use pdfs, recent versions of acrobat reader are quite smart to search in all files in a directory, I've used this feature quite lot of times, not always in oracle docs though.
Flash stickers are cheap, small and can store lot of info nowadays, also quite usable.

I find pdf less practical and heavy to manage (moreover if you want to share in a local network), and also less friendly, but that's maybe a matter of taste.

I have noticed that various universities seem to have their own copies available, that make decent substitutes when Oracle is unavailable, for example:

I wouldn't rely on those copies. Will they be kept in sync?
Can I sue the university when the copy isn't accurate?
Don't they constitute a breach of Oracle's copyrights?
Just a few questions.

All the problem is here.
The doc provider have to keep in sync their website with the last Oracle documentation built to have the last updates.
Example :
Doc 10gR2 built B14237-01 : limit number of partition => 65535
Doc 10gR2 built B14237-03 : limit number of partition => 1048575
And mistake happens in thread as the following one :
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2433129?
Anyway, it can be a temporary workaround.
>>Don't they constitute a breach of Oracle's copyrights?
Awaiting answer from Oracle team with equivalent doc of Peoplesoft for which Oracle doesn't provide HTML server here.

Boneist,
Thanks for reporting this issue. The doc server has been rebooted and http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/homepage / tahiti.oracle.com should both be functioning now.

Nicolas,
I just tested both http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/homepage / tahiti.oracle.com and they appear to be working again.

Update: Oracle is saying that it is working again. They don't seem to saying whether they identified what the problem is or if they fixed anything, just that it is working again for now.
