DBMS_STATS is already part of this Oracle release

but if see the index i see BLEVEL HIGH AFTER DBMS_STATS
but if i run analyze index .... compute estimate
i see BLEVEL 2.

which value is correct & how do you know it is correct answer?

It's not that I don't believe you, but could you show us some evidence (cut and paste from SQL*Plus) that shows the Blevel changing for an index as the result of an Analyze/Dbms_Stats command.
(And I don't mean changing from null to a value).

What version of Oracle are you using?
